I am a certified teacher and I have been tutoring for over 10 years. My professional background and education is in engineering, business management, and teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Secondary Math Education from Villanova University. I received 7-12 Teacher Certification in Pennsylvania and was awarded the ETS Recognition of Excellence for my performance on the Praxis exam, Mathematics Content Knowledge. I have well over 200 college credit hours.
I literally started tutoring in grade school and have been tutoring almost since that time. It is my passion. Tutoring can provide something the classroom simply cannot - personalized learning. My principal aim is to individualize a one-on-one learning experience that helps you achieve your highest potential. I will listen carefully to understand your academic needs and develop a tutoring program that specifically addresses those needs. Nothing is more rewarding than to witness the emergence of confidence when learning leads to understanding. My hope is to help you develop critical thinking skills, gain perspective, and cultivate a sense of self-achievement.
My principal area of focus is mathematics: PreCalculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Discrete Math, and Arithmetic. However, I also tutor students in Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar, Essay Writing, and English as a Second Language (ESL). I have a complete lesson plan to prepare students for the Math, Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT. I also teach test prep strategies - for a whole host of tests: SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, TABE, ASVAB, ISEE, and TOEFL.
I tutor in people's homes in the Lakewood Ranch area only. I also tutor at the Braden River Library, on Rt 70 in Bradenton.
I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals.
