I received a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a Mathematics minor from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. I have a passion for math and science and enjoy sharing my experience with others!
Some tutors may give students tricks to complete "cookie-cutter" assignments and tests. My goal is for a student to gain a fundamental understanding of the subject matter. It's only through this type of understanding that the subject can be applied for real world purposes. My approach, therefore, is to work on example problems while explaining the underlying concepts. In this way, the student will gain problem solving tools that can be applied outside of a particular course's subject matter.
I have spent many hours in classrooms hearing teachers and professors try to answer the same question in the same way and totally miss the point! I believe it's important to truly understand where and why a student is having difficulty. There is almost never one single way to teach a concept and I will do my best to find the way that helps my student gain that fundamental understanding!
In addition to my math and science background, I have over 5 years of experience studying German through high school and college. Since then, I have kept up my language skills as a hobby. I would love to help a high school student with his/her German skills!
My hours are very flexible and I am willing to work around your needs. I have a vehicle and am able to meet students at their home or at a public library, whichever is preferable.
