I enjoy helping my students learn the English language skills necessary to help them succeed in an English speaking environment. Although I may use books and printed lessons, I realize that most students learn English best when they can apply it to their personal situation. I will adapt my lesson to fit your particular situation. I am very patient, but will also ask you to 'do it again' until you get it right, so you have the confidence you need. I have had a lot of different experiences in the world and have not spent my entire career in a classroom, so I can apply those experiences to help you learn the English that you really need. I have friends from many different countries and have traveled to many other countries myself. I enjoy learning about different cultures, and I know from experience what it is like to live in different cultures. I look forward to working with you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

Hi! My name is John and I have been teaching ESL for many years, mostly to high school students and adults. I have a Master's degree in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have many friends from other countries and have traveled to many countries myself, so I know what it is like to not know the language of the people around you. I am very patient and understand that it takes a lot of practice to learn another language. I am able to offer a very practical approach to learning English because in addition to teaching, I also have several years experience in the business world in finance, real estate and even in aviation, so I can help professionals who want to learn or perfect their English skills. I can work with all ages and I love to see my students progress.
