Motivation and experience: I am the child of Italian immigrants and English was not my first language. I struggled in grammar school, but eventually graduated college with honors and a year early. This instilled a mission to help others who were limited by language or learning disabilities of various types. I have tutored autistic twins, emotionally disturbed children, and even children of new immigrants for a major corporation. For years I have taught learning or language disabled and emotionally disturbed students in special classes in public and charter schools. And of course, I tutored my own children at home.
Strengths: I empathize with the challenges children face in learning. I am well educated with a master's degree and 42 additional graduate credits. I am Florida State Certified in school psychology, reading, learning disabilities and a number of K-12 specialties. I have decades of experience, with a library of materials, and a network of other teaching professionals to refer to. And I am relentless, energetic, yet affable and I do not give up easily.
Weaknesses: I am quite diminutive, and this sometimes interferes with credibility from adults, but it is an advantage with children. My foreign language background still shows in sentence structure and vocabulary, although my accent is now completely gone.
