I’m Praneeja, and I’m a freshman at the University of Delaware. I’ll be majoring in Neuroscience, with my ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric neurologist. I love playing tennis, reading, and volunteering. My favorite subject in school is Math, but I also excel at English, especially in reading comprehension and text analysis.
Throughout high school, tutoring has been an integral part of my extracurricular experience. For all four years of high school, I participated in a program called Science Ambassadors, in which I go with my school to underprivileged schools to tutor kids in math and science, in addition to helping them with their homework. Furthermore, I worked at a large private tutoring center during my senior year of high school. I tutored kids with concepts ranging from basic addition to geometry to calculus. I’m looking forward to continuing tutoring!
I taught elementary school children math and science for all four years of high school through a tutoring program in my school. I also helped them with homework, which included any elementary school subject (grammar, spelling, writing, and more). Furthermore, I worked at a large private tutoring center during my senior year, in which I taught children ranging from ages 4 to 16. I helped them with reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, reading, math, and vocabulary.
I have done extensive practice with SAT reading while I was a high school student studying to take the SAT. I received a score of 750/800 on the actual test. Also, I have taken Princeton Review classes in which I have learned and know the test tips, tricks, and skills that I could teach my students. I have tutored multiple family friends with the SAT Reading, and many have improved their score by up to 200 points. I will teach my students how to tackle the multiple choice most effectively in terms of time, and I will help them learn vocabulary by assigning a certain number of words to learn every week, depending on the student's capability. I will teach them other tips, such as highlighting the passage as they read to save time later on when they are answering the question.
