My name is Maia and I am currently a research assistant at Foreign Policy Research Institute (part-time). I have tutored children (up to 12th grade) in Geometry, English and various other subjects. I have also participated in multiple Junior Achievement programs through which I volunteered as an assistant teacher at local elementary schools. My approach has been very successful in the past--I bond with students easily and work hard to not only help them improve their grades and do their homework in an organized and effective manner, but I also make tireless efforts to inspire and motivate them to enjoy the learning process and find their true interests and passion. I strongly believe that children's minds have endless possibilities of absorbing and processing knowledge, and with the right kind of motivation and attention they are capable to excel at anything!
Besides my tutoring experience, I have a Bachelor's degree in International Business Administration, which, along with over five years of experience in the business world (as an administrative assistant and later an office manager), has provided me with vast knowledge of math, economics, finance, problem solving and other technical expertise. I also have an MA in Globalization, Development and Transition, which combined with three years of overall experience in the field of International Relations has provided me with excellent background in political science, world history, geography and other related topics.
Helping and motivating others is a passion of mine, and I think that with the past and future tutoring opportunities that passion has been/ will continue to be fulfilled. I enjoy seeing the students succeed after these tutoring sessions, and seeing them become inspired and motivated by this success. Also, just as much, I enjoy seeing their happy and proud parents.
