Study Skills and English or English Second Language Tutor

I have my Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Organizational Dynamics and Human Performance Management. I also worked 20+ years in customer service. I recently discovered that I love to tutor students. I received my tutor training certificate in English Language Learner Focus in June 2011. I received the Tutor of the Year Award presented by Delaware Association for Adult and Continuing Education on March 31, 2012. Besides adults, I have also tutored children. My tutor experience is one on one with a student or in a small group setting. My students have made level gains in their skills.

Grammar

As part of my tutoring, I focus on the needs of students. Students frequently ask for help with grammar which increases their speaking and writing ability. I have helped students with nouns, regular and irregular verbs, verb tenses, infinitives, gerunds ... just to name a few.

Reading

My experience in helping a student with his reading is to give him a topic he is interested in and then build on it with a cloze exercise, comprehension, writing, and vocabulary activities.

ESL/ESOL

I have tutored adults from other countries. I have completed tutor training with a concentration in English Language Learner Focus. My experience is one-on-one with a student or in a small group setting. My students have made level gains in their skills.

Study Skills

I tutored a student with her ninth grade homework. My employer wrote a letter of recommendation and said that I take my responsibilities very personally. I am engaged and enthusiastic in all aspects of my work. I am hard working and dedicated and take pride in my work.

Business
