ACT Math

Over the past twenty years, I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portion of the ACT, SAT, and PRAXIS exams. Some of these student have achieved perfect (or near perfect) scores!

Adobe Photoshop

Most recently I have taught a semester courses of Digital Photography (I and II) to high school students. At least half of the course was teaching and helping students learn Photoshop Elements.
I also use this software to edit my own opphotography.

Algebra 1

I am a Delaware certified, highly qualified, math teacher with more than twenty years of experience teaching (and tutoring) a wide variety of math subjects (including algebra 1).

Algebra 2

I am a Delaware certified, highly qualified, math teacher with more than twenty years of experience teaching (and tutoring) a wide variety of math subjects (including algebra 2).

Calculus

Calculus is a branch of math that involves two new operators: the derivative, and its inverse, the integral. The derivative is analogous to the slope of a line (from algebra) and the integral is the area under a curve.

I have been tutoring calculus at the high school and college levels for over fifteen years.

Chess

My chess experience began when I was a child. In high school, I was the first seat of the chess team. My experience continued through college and beyond. This experience includes teaching many persons how to play chess.

Computer Engineering

I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering, control systems.
Over my career in industry, I have led numerous software development projects. I am a Delaware certified computer science teacher with more than ten years experience.
I have also taught several computer engineering courses as an adjunct professor.

Computer Programming

I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering, control systems.
Over my career in industry, I have programmed using more than thirty different computer languages and led numerous software development projects.

Computer Science

I am certified in Delaware to teach computer science. I have taught computer application courses for over ten years at the Charter School of Wilmington.

Discrete Math

I have taken numerous college courses dealing with discrete mathematics. My Ph.D. thesis involves solving a set of simultaneous partial difference equations with boundary values. I used discrete math concepts to solve several projects I worked on in industry. In fact I earned a US patent for one of those solutions.

Electrical Engineering

I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering.
I have also tutored and taught several college courses for electrical engineering including a review course for the EIT portion of the Professional Engineering license.

General Computer

I am certified in Delaware to teach computer science. I have taught computer application courses for over ten years at the Charter School of Wilmington. I have worked with computers in industry for over twenty years, and led numerous software development projects.

Geometry

Geometry is a branch of math concerned with points, lines, angles, shapes, and space (on a plane). It also develops skills such as logic, reasing, and proofs. Many students have a hard time with geometry because it is more visual than their previous math studies.

I have been tutoring high school geometry for over twenty years.

Microsoft Excel

I have using Microsoft Excel since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computers. I have formally taught Excel (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students.
I continue to use Excel in my own work to organize and analyze data.

I have using Microsoft Word since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computer. I have formally taught Word (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students.

Praxis

I have taken and very easily passed the Praxis exam. I have also prepared several students to take this exam. I view the Praxis as similar to (but perhaps easier than) both the SAT and ACT tests.

SAT Math

I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portions of the SAT, as well as the ACT, and Praxis exams. Some of these students have achieved perfect (or near-perfect) scores!

I am currently teaching an SAT math preparation course, and have taught several SAT math preparation courses in the past.
