Engineering Student and former English Major

I'm back in school after raising my children and I'm looking to earn some extra money for my tuition by doing something that comes as naturally as breathing to me. Teaching others!

I have been tutoring since kindergarten, since I was the only one there who could read. I continued to help my fellow students through my school career and afterward. In addition to having a strong academic career, I have a knack for finding a way to explain something in a way that a particular student can understand. I am happy with teaching students of any age, and I have experience with lots of different learning styles. I believe that any student can be taught, and it is up to the teacher to find the best way to reach that particular student. I ask only that my students be prepared to bring their best effort and an open mind.

Algebra 1

I have been tutoring Algebra 1 and 2 for more than 20 years, to many different students, including friends, family, and friends of family.

American History

American History is something I enjoy immensely. My husband and I have spent a couple of vacations in Williamsburg and we love spending time at reenactments and museums in our spare time. Voice (Music)

I have perfect pitch, and I was a chorus member throughout my school years and was frequently a soloist. Our high school choir won numerous awards and I have not forgotten any of the vocal exercises my instructor used to make us all better singers. The fact that I was drilled on how to properly fill my lungs when in high school actually was a huge step in helping me to overcome childhood asthma.

Violin

I studied classical viola for 12 years through the New York State school system and then with Delaware Music School. I spent 1 season playing for the Dover Civic Symphony Orchestra, second chair. The viola and the violin are substantially the same instrument, and I am completely comfortable with either one.

C++

C++ is an important requirement of my current college major. I received an A in the class at Devry and I use C++ in classes and labs in most of my senior level classes.

Computer Programming

I have programmed computers in many languages including C++, Java, Assembly, and Basic. I am comfortable with flowcode, psuedocode, flowcharts, and algorithms and I am comfortable with all programming structures.

Microsoft Outlook

I use Microsoft Outlook everyday at work, not only for the email features, but also for the calendar. I regularly use a lot of the features that most of my coworkers don't even know exist.

Electrical Engineering

I am currently a senior at Devry with a major in Electronic Engineering. My current GPA is 3.92. I have been known to help my classmates to understand various formulas and concepts.
