I have a personal interest in language teaching and learning. My undergraduate major was Chinese linguistics. I have two Master's degree. One of them was obtained from UPenn's TESOL program, and the other was the Learning Sciences program at Northwestern University.
I have tutored and taught elementary, middle school and high school and adult ESOL students. I have also developed a seminar that focuses on English speaking skills and academic vocabulary and a "Language through Drama" curriculum. In the "Language through drama" curriculum, students write, revise and enact their own plays in English and they participate in both whole-class discussions and their more private writers community. I've also had experience in helping students prepare for TOEFL, GRE and other oral exams/presentations.
I have also had experience teaching and tutoring high school and college-level students for their Chinese language learning. I have helped a US student design and conduct her research in China, while teaching her Chinese. I have also worked with groups of college students who are beginner-beginners to improve their communicative competence in Chinese. In addition, I have helped to develop business Chinese lessons for the Wharton School Chinese language learners.
My tutoring session is very interactive and hands-on. I tailor-made my tutoring session for every single student and work on their glows and grows together with the students. My goal is to help students become more confident and efficient self-directed learners, and that is why I put a focus on helping students develop their own studying strategies.
I am a native Chinese speaker. I have taught a college-level Chinese language class and designed curriculum for Wharton School Business Chinese courses. I have passed the Chinese Praxis test and the foreign language pedagogy Praxis test, and will be certified soon.
I have a graduate degree in the Learning Sciences. I have passed the Praxis PLT (K-6) and my GRE tests. I have taught and tutored elementary school students in language arts and math. I am good at personalizing the tutoring experience for the student and I use an interdisciplinary approach for my elementary students.

I have taught a public speaking class for a group of middle school and high school students at a public school. I ask my students to videotape their speeches and we will work together to watch it and find ways to improve public speaking skills.
