Hello,

I am a recent PhD graduate who can help improve your writing, proofread your work, boost your English skills, or tutor social studies, college-level humanities, or reading and writing portions of standardized tests. I have lengthy teaching experience at the college level and know what teaching assistants and professors are looking for when they grade your work. So, if you are in high school, college or in the early years of graduate school, I can help you improve your grades and turn in top-quality assignments.

If you are working on your English and looking for a conversation partner who really knows what he's talking about, look no further. I have worked with many students whose first language is not English, and have been able to assist them in honing their English writing skills, even at the doctoral level. I also very much enjoy interacting with visiting students or immigrants who are improving their verbal abilities. I was a volunteer tour guide at an international hostel and I am always eager to meet individuals from abroad.

I can also work with you virtually. If you wish to e-mail me your writing assignments, I can respond with corrections and comments. This has been an effective means of working for me and many of my clients, and I would also be happy to speak with you over Skype.

Finally, I have always performed very well on the written and reading portions of standardized tests. If you want help with the SAT or GRE verbal components, I would be happy to work with you on that as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I am a native speaker of English and a published academic with a PhD in political science / international relations. I have a great deal of teaching experience working with international students at the undergraduate level and helping my peers with their English communication in graduate school. If you are an international college or graduate school student looking for help with vocabulary, idiom, grammar or with your writing in general, I can definitely help you.

European History

I was a history and international relations double major in my undergraduate program and earned my PhD in political science with a focus on international relations from Boston University. My dissertation and much of my coursework focused on European history, which has been a passion of mine since high school. I have particular areas of interest in the history of the former USSR and European history of the 20th century.

Government & Politics

I am an adjunct professor of political science and international relations and have worked at multiple colleges in DC and New England teaching these subjects to university students over the past several years, both as a graduate student and as a finished PhD. I can help you with understanding your subject material in American politics, comparative politics or IR, or help with your writing and test prep. Because I know what I look for when grading an assignment, I also will be able to help you turn in the best paper possible.

Proofreading

I am a published author and blogger with a PhD and considerable teaching experience at the university level. I have great attention to detail and lengthy experience in editing my students' and my peers' written work, and I can help you understand what your instructors will be looking for when they grade your writing.

Social Studies

I have an Honors Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Toronto, which was ranked #9 in the world in arts and sciences the year I graduated. I also hold a PhD in political science from Boston University. Furthermore, I have been published in a top academic journal, the International History Review, with my article appearing in the October, 2013 issue. Finally, I am currently working on a book (with Palgrave MacMillan) developed from my doctoral dissertation on international relations during the 20th century.

World History

I was a history and international relations double major in undergrad and earned my PhD in political science with a focus on international relations from Boston University.

Writing

I have a great deal of experience helping others with their writing through my years as a university teaching assistant, lecturer, and helping my fellow PhD students with their papers. I am also a published author, and I know what faculty and TAs will be looking for when they grade your university papers when it comes to style and content. Since many of my students and peers were international students, I also know how to help you improve your writing if you are still working on your English.

Very, Very Good Tutor — Jeremy is an awesome tutor. He knows a ton about history and writing, and definitely can help you outline your arguments as he did for me. He's also in academia, so he knows exactly what to look for. Cannot recommend him enough. ...
