I have had the good fortune of studying under some truly wonderful teachers whose passion for their subject has in turn inspired my own love of learning. After graduating summa cum laude from Middlebury College with a degree in English and American Literature, I moved to Germany for a year to complete my Master's thesis. Having worked on a volunteer-basis as a teaching assistant in a classroom, I understand that teachers have a large degree of information to impart, but they lack the time to adequately address individual concerns of every student.
As a tutor, my goal is twofold: to keep students up to date with the material that is being taught in class and to give them the confidence to handle the material independently. During each tutoring session, I aim to keep the student engaged in the material, without overwhelming them. I always strive to find a balance between making the material fun and accessible, while at the same time addressing key concerns of the student and offering them a challenging environment in which they can build their skills and knowledge.
I am eager and open to different teaching formats and feedback whenever any aspect of a tutoring session is dissatisfying or unproductive in any way. I know that schedules can change at the last minute, which is why I do not charge for cancellations, but when possible, I would like at least 24 hours advance notice. My schedule is very flexible so we can always arrange a makeup session.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in any way I can!
