Hello Parents and Students :D

My name is Sung. I am a recent college graduate from the University of Richmond.
My major is interdisciplinary in Psychology, Philosophy and Economics with a French minor.

I have studied abroad in Korea at Yonsei University and in Paris at the University of Paris. I also placed first place and second place in the James J. Doyle Oral Proficiency Contest in 2008 and 2009 for Japanese II and and Japanese III respectively. During my summers, I worked in intensive residential treatment facilities for psychologically and emotionally disturbed children. With over 3000+ hours of supervised clinical work with included 10 hours of academic instruction, I am more than capable of providing a structured environment for special needs students that will allow them to not only excel academically, but build self confidence and develop essential pro-social skills.

Being an effective tutor is not just about just knowing the material or being able to present that information effectively. While such proficiencies are necessary, they are not sufficient. Tutors need to know and adapt to the learning style of their students while make the material "real", accessible and engaging. Forcing students to do homework or study without the motivation to do so is a fruitless endeavor.

As a tutor for your child, I will not only work with them to learn their academic material but I will also help them become confident in their abilities, foster positive studying habits, and most importantly, nurture a curiosity that will help them succeed.

My teaching methods are based upon my own experiences as a student, my clinical work and from best practices and theories from psychology, mostly cognitive, personality and social psychology.

I was the founder and president of the Archery Club at my college and can instruct Olympic Style Recurve Archery as well as Traditional Korean Reflex Box Archery.

I am able to tutor psychology, marketing, philosophy, economics, Japanese, French, Math and most sciences up to introductory college levels. Please get in contact with me for specifics.

My rates are listed on Wzyant but are negotiable based upon: Distance, Number of Classes, Length of Each Lesson, etc.

Please feel free to contact me about any questions you may have!

I look forwards to working with you or your child.

Sincerely,
Sung K.
