My strategy for tutoring is to have a student become confident in their task. My plan is preparation and awareness. I take the subject at hand and prepare a student on how to be prepared for class, be ready for quizzes and tests and to be attentive and interested in a class. I have outline methods and study methods that will make a student successful in their goals.

In baseball, my goal is to have the player become prepared and to learn proper fundamentals in fielding, hitting and pitching. My specialty is pitching, where I work on proper mechanics and the mental approach of pitching. I also focus on how a player can have a better baseball IQ, which will help them in their goals. In 1995, I was Washington Post All Met Coach of the Year.

I am assistant instructor in a Japanese martial art known as Aikido. Aikido is more than a self-defense art. It's an art that teaches an individual how to handle conflicts and resolution in their lives and also helps an individual with their goals in life and their everyday trials and tribulations. It helps an individual with flexibility of their body and mind. My rank is 2nd kyu.

I have taught history for 35 years to M.S. and H.S. students and my students always enjoyed my class. I made history important to them because of my passion for the subject.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Martial Arts

I have studied various martial arts for 24 years. My expertise is in aikido which I hold the rank od 2nd kyu. This is equivalent to a brown belt in other arts. Aikido can help many martial artists with its agility and turning drills. I practice aikido 6 days a week at DC Aikido where I am an assistant instructor.

Social Studies

I have taught history and geography for 32 years at St. John's College High School and The Heights School. I have prepared lesson plans and lectures and have experience in the classroom.

I have have prepared tests in these subjects as well as assignments, and I am familiar with maps and resources in these subjects.

My major in college was history and my minor was international service and communications.
