I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher of Spanish. I taught for about 15 years at a High School level in Spain and the USA (New York), and I am right now teaching part time at a university level here in Washington DC. I started working as a Spanish and Catalan private tutor in Barcelona (Spain) more than 9 years ago. Apart from my native country (Spain) I have also been living for several years in Belgium and France, where I perfected my previous knowledge of French.
I hold a PhD from University of Barcelona (Spain)in Spanish Language and Literature, a Bachelor degree from the same university, and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from the Fundacion Universitaria Iberoamericana.
On my tutoring approach I design the kind of lessons you really need for your purposes (academic, conversational, stressing especial vocabulary or stressing specific grammar notions). Let me know what your needs are and I will help you to reach your goals.
Having been myself a foreign languages student for about 20 years, I am able to relate to your difficulties and needs. I know how to accommodate to different learning styles. Apart from my 2 "mother tongues": Spanish and Catalan, I am fluent in 3 other languages (French, English, Italian) and I have a working knowledge of Portuguese. The acquisition of a foreign language is my main subject of interest, especially the cultural and psychological aspects of it. I enjoy creating links and understanding among cultures and their "ways of naming reality."
