In my youth, I tutored neighbor's children in such basic skills as reading, writing, mathematics. Since then, I have parented 9 (nine) children and helped ensure their success in high-performing schools. Our three youngest children attended the top academic high school in DC. One has co-hosted a local cable show and helped to train and advise juvenile diversion programs around the country and internationally. One graduated Magna Cum Laude from Radford Universitiy and became a top English teacher both in DC Public Schools and now in Abu Dhabi. The youngest was president of the school Honors Society, the Math and Science Honors Societies, became a Posse Scholar and the first Black Class President at Bucknell University, and now is in his third year teaching History and English. Of our older six (6) children four (4) are either school teachers or administrators with Masters Degrees and two are seeking PhDs.
I grew up in a family that had five prior generations in education. While I worked in the non-profit and government sector, much of my experience was directed in educating adults to promote, improve or institutionalize programs to help improve people's lives. I work well with all age groups and have provided support leading to academic success for young people from my earliest days. I have committed my life, both personally and professionally to helping to make this a better world for us all, and also bring that passion to my tutoring, as my tutees and our children will attest.
I look forward to the opportunity to share my passion and skills with you.
