Retired Teacher of General and Special Education

I am a retired teacher with 50+ years of experience in general and special education. As a general education teacher, I taught English grammar, composition, and literature. As a special educator, I served students with special needs in both self-contained and inclusion environments. Concurrently, I engaged in private in-home tutoring, serving students in elementary, middle and high school in the development and mastery of basic skills in reading, math, language arts, English grammar, composition,and literature. In addition, I assisted students in identifying and using basic strategies effective in the completion of homework assignments in other classes. As a private tutor servicing high school seniors and adults, I coached clients studying for the writing section of the SAT, the PRAXIS Exam, the GED, and professionals requesting assistance in vocabulary development in their specific fields. My private tutoring has been augmented by my availability to serve as an advocate at special education meetings when parents could not attend or needed me to accompany them in attendance at a meeting for their child.

Phonics
