Hi! I'm Joe P. I have studied Arabic for 5 years. I recently moved to the DC area from Egypt where I spent one year finishing an Arabic B.A. from Michigan State University. Prior to Egypt, I spent 3 months in Morocco studying Arabic as well. I have read extensively in Arabic Literature and have studied Arabic mediascapes.

I have studied from and taught with a number of written and audio resources, including Al-Kitaab. As a tutor I make sure to balance speaking, listening reading, and writing. I also have developed lessons to improve pronunciation of difficult sounds not found in English. Additionally, I find it important to mix Standard Arabic with colloquial to produce a more natural language.

Moreover, I possess a second degree in Anthropology with a Muslim studies specialization and am well versed in the culture, religion, politics, and history of the region. I will gladly work cultural information into language lessons.
