Greetings! My name is Michael L., and I am originally from Massachusetts, now living in Washington, DC.
I graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Religious Studies Concentration but also minored in French and Studio Art. I maintained a 3.4 grade point average, and I was an honor student in high school and graduated second in my class from a prestigious New England Prep School. I also studied abroad in France during my junior year at the University of Strasbourg, on the German border. I speak fluent French (as well as basic German and Romanian) and taught French as a district Sub for Boston Public Schools as well as in 1987 at a private high school in Boulder Colorado, The September School. I am great with young people; I work especially well with secondary school students, where I have most of my teaching experience. I also am proficient enough in English vocabulary and grammar to be a good choice tutoring students who need help preparing for the SAT and advanced placement tests, having scored a perfect 5 on AP European History, for example. I also lived abroad in Europe and traveled extensively around the world for a travel editor Job I held for many years, so am very open-minded, good at diverse cultural understanding and listening and communicating with students who speak English as a foreign language. I also like a challenge, enjoy working hard, and am committed to my work and helping students succeed in their endeavors. I am a very likable and unique person with many varied experiences in terms of work, travel, and other interests, including art, which I have done since childhood. I look forward to helping your child succeed and am confident of my abilities. I am also punctual and have my own transportation.
