My name is Emma, I am 22 years old and have just graduated from Fordham University in New York. I was born in Marseille, France and lived there until I was 18 years old. In view of my past experience as a French tutor at Fordham University, I fully realize how important content is to learning. I am also aware of the specific difficulties that acquiring French implies for learners.
I graduated from high school with a French baccalaureate. I then changed culture and language and graduated last year from Fordham University receiving my Bachelor’s of Science. I am proficient in writing both in English in French as I have had many opportunities during my studies to develop these skills: French philosophy and literature in high school and Philosophical Ethics, Texts and Contexts, and Classic Buddhist Texts amongst others in college.
I have been teaching French on my own time since last November, which has taught me how to use my knowledge of languages and creativity to develop personalized curriculums for each of my students. One of my students, a young professional who has made it a personal goal to acquire fluency in French, has improved her conversational French beyond her expectations over the last 6 months. Every week, I plan an outing in the city to teach her a new array of vocabulary and grammar.
Furthermore, my experience as a tutor at Fordham University has made me realize the specificities and difficulties that French implies. French grammar can be very complex, and I have developed strong methods to teach it.
I am patient, focused and friendly and am looking forward to meeting new tutees!
