Hello there!

My name is Hakim, and I am a personable, patient, and passionate Math educator with plenty of experience in the field. Having been a student for most of my life, I am very aware that there are many bad Math teachers out there, which has contributed to a widespread fear, discomfort, and even hatred for Mathematics. My goal is to correct this issue with effective teaching methods and problem solving techniques, designed to show ANY student that mathematical understanding is always within their grasp.

I am willing and able to tutor you in just about any Math subject, ranging from Algebra I to all Calculus classes (and everything in between). You can come to me for anything from general homework help to test preparation, including standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, Praxis, etc. Additionally, I worked as an Admissions Counselor at MIT for two years, so I can also help with more generalized college preparation advice.

I graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics from Boston University 3 years ago, and am currently a Ph.D student in Math at The George Washington University. I've been tutoring/teaching Math over the past 6 years, including charter schools, summer college prep programs, college/university students, and private one-on-one tutoring. So I have plenty of educational experience. I've even had one student whose SAT Math score increased by over 200 points after working with me!

I live in the Crystal City area of Arlington, and students are welcome to receive tutoring where I live, but I can go just about anywhere that is near a DC Metro stop. Also, I have an office in the GW Math Department where we could meet, if that is more convenient. The nice thing about the office is that it has a white board which can go a long way with tutoring. I can also do tutoring over the phone, or possibly even Skype (although I think in-person tutoring is the most effective, especially in Math).

My best availability is on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday), as I am free almost all day. However, I also have some limited time during the week, which we can discuss. Most importantly, I'm willing to work around your schedule.
