Hello All!
My name is Farah and I am a graduate of the George Washington University School of Business, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I have had to do everything from financial statement analyses, to performing company valuations, to writing about current management practices. All of that is meant to show that I have had to do an extensive amount of reading, writing, editing, and math, all the while having to stay very organized with my work.
I spent 4 years working as a teacher’s assistant/tutor (partially as a volunteer), and I had the beautiful opportunity of working with some of DC’s bright, young future. I have always enjoyed working with children, but I had never worked with them in a teaching capacity. As my passion for seeing these students successfully master their material grew, so did my appreciation for teachers. They are invaluable resources, and feel honored to have been given a taste of what they experience day in and day out.
I also tutored my younger brothers (I am 5.5 years their senior) throughout their elementary school education, middle school, and high school. I know how incredibly important it is to get the basics of math, reading, and writing down pat before you move on to more advanced courses. I also know how daunting it is to embark on the college application process without knowing exactly what to do and what to fill out. School is sometimes overwhelming, and getting a tutor to help with the areas you're a little rough on, can make all the difference in confidence and subsequent success.
I view myself as a people person who is always looking to brighten someone’s day. I consider myself a hard-working, determined person who works very diligently in achieving my goals. I'd like to think I am personable and friendly, with great verbal and written communication skills. I am fluent in French, English, and conversationally fluent in Spanish. In addition, I have significant experience working in student clubs and volunteer organizations. I served as an avid participant of the “GW Disability Support Services” as a note taker. I was also captain of my Relay for Life groups each time I participated.
I don't wish to make you read a novel, so if there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Enthusiastically,
Farah
