My name is Ian. I am originally from Buffalo, NY. I am a 27 year old recent graduate of George Washington University Law School. I graduated from Williams College with a BA in Economics in 2009. I scored a 170 out of 180 on my LSAT, and a 1500 (710 math, 790 verbal) out of 1600 on the SAT.
While at Williams College I tutored freshmen in Economics. I also tutored high school students in the SAT during the summer in Buffalo. My approach to tutoring is that anyone can learn a concept or a fact so long as it is framed properly in their mind. Using appropriate analogies or relatable examples are excellent ways to enable a student to visualize and remember a concept. Most of all, the tutoring experience should be enjoyable for the student: they should be encouraged to exercise their curiosity and should not be afraid to make mistakes.
I have studied econometrics at Williams College as part of my Economics major. I have written several research papers in economics which have employed econometrics or analyzed econometric data in other papers.
At Williams College, I majored in Economics. I studied macro and micro, price and allocation theory, game theory, capital markets, environmental economics and natural resource management, and international trade. I have tutored many students in these subjects.
I am well versed in the mathematical subjects covered on the GRE and have tutored several students in the subject, improving scores significantly.
I have a JD from George Washington University Law School, and concentrated on Corporate Law, Estate Planning, and Tax Law.
I received a 170 out of 180 on the LSAT in December 2009, which is the 98th percentile. I understand the difficulties in understanding the question types presented on the LSAT, and can show students methods for attacking the Logical Games and Logical Arguments sections, as well as making the most of your time on the Reading Comprehension section.
I received a 790 on my SAT Reading section. I am well versed in the material covered on the test as well as strategies for improving scores. I have tutored students in preparation for the test.
At Williams College, I studied statistics. I took three courses in stats, as well as another course in econometrics. I have conducted statistical research and written papers on advanced statistical methods and studies. I have tutored many students in the subject, from elementary statistics to more advanced concepts.
