I have over 25 years of experience teaching and helping high school students be successful in the following areas: learning to take better notes; learning how to study for major tests; learning college entrance exam strategies and more. I have taught in the following disciplines: US history, Advanced Placement US history, US government, Advanced Placement US Government, 9th grade English and Study Skills. I have the experience to assist with college applications, college essays and FAFSA forms
Additionally, I am trained to teach AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) classes, which emphasize time management, organizational skills, and how to take notes from a textbook. I can also assist students in the areas of both writing and reading comprehension.

Study Skills

I have taught 9-12 graders study skills for over nine years in an inner city charter school. I used the AVID curriculum. I focused on time-management, Cornell note taking, organizing class notebooks, keeping an agenda, taking notes from a text and preparing for tests.
