I have experience in teaching Japanese (JLPT prep, business and conversational) for over 15 years to college students and young professionals both privately and at a university. I teach both in person and online.

Originally my friends asked me to teach them some Japanese when I was living in Tokyo more than 15 years ago, and that's how I started it. When I moved to NYC I had several students to tutor for their Japanese classes and exams as well as some young professionals who needed to use Japanese at work. I also taught three classes of 75 students for conversation and grammar at a university for 2 years as part of my teaching assistantship.

One of the strengths that I believe I have and my students tell me, compared to some other Japanese teachers, is that I can explain and describe Japanese words and grammar points successfully using multiple examples in English. I can also explain using extra materials including anime and manga, which I believe is one of the best and the strongest industries in Japan that I feel happy about.

I just enjoy teaching Japanese to those who are interested in learning it and want to know more about Japanese culture.

I enjoy the human interaction with the students. If the student is really willing to learn the language, it really motivates me to do more and better.
