I Love Business, Statistics, Writing, Reading, & Math

I love to learn and to help others learn! I like to provide examples and select study materials that allow my students to relate personally to the topic whether it is business, statistics, public speaking, reading, writing or math. My early fascination with reading and writing led to my undergraduate major in English, and my MBA and doctorate in business began my career as a college professor and consultant. This background has involved me not only in teaching management, finance, statistics, and business communication, but also in department management and public speaking.

I have also provided academic and career counseling to students, performed business related research, and have published business articles and book chapters. My experience has also included serving as an executive editor of an international academic journal, which involved researching, editing, proofreading and evaluating manuscripts for publication. I began tutoring as an undergraduate and still love it!

Vocabulary

Words have such great value! And, the more words you know, the more you can understand of what you read and hear. The larger your vocabulary, the better you will be able to communicate with others both orally and in writing. You will be able to better adjust your wording to fit the level of your audience, and you can feel confident that you and your writing, your speeches, and your conversations are perceived and understood just as you intended.

Grammar

Good grammar is so important! It can make a difference in the first impression you make, and in your writing, it can also make a difference in people's perception of your intelligence and credibility. Elementary (K-6th)

I earned my first graduate degree in elementary and secondary education. In my first teaching job, I worked with emotionally disturbed preschoolers in Montgomery County, MD. And, for the next several years, I taught elementary school students in Macon County, AL before becoming a college professor of business. In the past two years since retirement, I have tutored elementary, secondary and college students in math, reading, writing, business, and statistics.

I possess my MBA and Doctorate degrees in Business Management and for over twenty years have taught and done consulting in the various areas of business management at schools including George Mason University, Virginia State University, York College of PA, and Wharton.
