I have extensive experience tutoring students with executive functioning disorder. For many of these students, study skills have to be taught explicitly. I help them with planning long term assignments such as term papers by breaking down the assignment into pieces or stages and then committing to a time goal for each stage and plotting it out on a calendar. I help students with note-taking techniques such as two column notes, with reading comprehension techniques such as taking margin notes, underlining, questioning the text, and using post it notes. I also help students with the process of writing - again teaching the different stages of writing including determining your audience, brainstorming, creating an outline, developing a thesis, writing and editing.
