I completed a major in International Relations and a minor in Public Health at Boston University. Throughout university I was actively involved in Model United Nations as a member of the debate travel team.
After teaching ESL in South Korea as an English language instructor, I gained experience preparing elementary and middle school students for the TOEFL exam and improving their English language skills. I teach reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
At the beginning of a course, I encourage students to set goals for themselves in the four areas of the TOEFL exam. As the class progresses, I work with students individually to monitor their progress in meeting their personal goals. I also supplement my teaching with interactive exercises to create a comfortable and engaging environment.
Apart from my experience teaching, I have also spent significant time overseas, conversing with non-native English speakers. During my time studying abroad in Singapore and traveling thereafter, I gained exposure to other cultures and manners of speaking. This enables me to understand cultural contexts to better facilitate English language learning.
I am a patient tutor and will work with you to assess your or your child's strengths as well as the areas that can use improvement.
I look forward to working with you!
