During my time as a Chinese instructor at the Hill Center DC, I have taught students with various background. They are successful lawyers, powerful politicians, and educated professionals. I not only taught them Chinese language, but also introduced Chinese culture and brought Chinese business etiquette to our class room.
Growing up in China, I finished my first undergraduate degree from Nankai University in Tianjin. I am proficient in both Chinese writing and speaking with standard Beijing accent. After completing two degrees from American University and Johns Hopkins University, I am now the owner of an international business consulting and travel company, and a representative of 8 private Chinese universities in DC metro area. I am very interested in helping those who are determined to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture from a unique Chinese-American’s perspective.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chinese

Born and raised in China, I am a Chinese (Mandarin) native speaker. I have completed my first college degree in China. During my four-year study, I was actively working as an interpreter/translator for multiple joint-venture companies. Upon my graduation, I was hired by one of the national tour agencies in Beijing, serving the English-speaking business and leisure travelers. In 1999, my sophisticated bi-lingual skills secured me a job within Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Through my American journey, I completed another two degrees from American University and Johns Hopkins University. In addition, I have been working on various jobs in international trade and commerce, immigration law, Asian American advocacy, etc.

In my spare time, I teach Chinese at a local community where I share with people my knowledge of Chinese language as well as Chinese culture and business practices.

Volleyball

I started playing volleyball at the age of 11 attending one of the best sporting boarding schools in China. During my seven-year semi-professional volleyball career, I was the captain of the city and provincial junior team, as well as a member of a Bronze medal college team at the China National College League.

While here in the U.S., I coached an 18 year-old travel team for Metro American Volleyball Club in 2008. The team qualified for the Junior Olympics. As a result, multiple players received volleyball scholarships in college.

Although I still play indoor and beach volleyball in D.C., I really enjoy coaching the next generation of volleyball players.
