Dear future students,
I am a Russian & German speaker, eager to share my knowledge. Both are languages I majored in as an undergraduate, but my connections with them are more intimate.
German is my native language, and I have lived in Germany for 3 different semesters, and visited there most summers to keep in touch with my family.
Russian I started as early as Junior High and completed 10 years of before moving to Moscow to pursue a job at Language Link, as a Director of International Programs, which required me to use the language on a daily basis for two years.
I tutored English while in Russia, and Russian to beginner and advanced high school and college students back in the US. (My mother worked as a high school teacher of Russian for nearly 35 years, so my exposure to Russia and Russian speakers began early).
I have a Master's Degree in Russian, Eastern European, and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington and am pursuing tutoring outside of my 9-5 job to keep my own language skills active.
I look forward to meeting you!
I am fluent in German, having been raised as a native speaker and earned a bachelor's degree in German language. As a Russian and German major, I finished Magna cum laude.
I traveled to Germany nearly every summer of my childhood and spent 3 separate semesters in Germany (as an infant; as a school child; and enrolled at the University of Tuebingen as a regular student).
I have both substitute taught and tutored in the German language and speak without an accent.
I am fluent in Russian, having completed ten years’ secondary and post-secondary study. As a Russian and German major, I finished Magna cum laude.
From 2007-2008, I was a Substitute Russian and German teacher for Amherst Regional Public Schools and a private tutor to students seeking extra Russian help. Additionally, I worked as a volunteer tutor for honors Russian students. During this year, I additionally chaperoned an exchange of high school students to Petrozavodsk, Russia.
I lived and worked in Russia from 2005-2007, where I worked as the International Programs Coordinator, Department Head, and prior to that Asst. Int'l Programs Coordinator at Language Link Russia. That is, I acted as Dean of Students, except Russian was my main language of communication.
