My name is Susan and I am a young educated woman who was trained as an Attorney, but who is now starting a second career as an educator. I have practiced corporate business law and litigation for nearly 10 years, but recently, I have started a business dedicated to teaching young children educational fundamentals and also providing after school care for children ages 5 to 17 years of age.
My primary focus is on reading, writing, arithmetic/elementary school math, science, language arts, and history. I also am proficient at tutoring/teaching legal subjects, as a I have a law degree and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.). I also am qualified and competent to serve as a mentor, which is a motivating factor to most parents who consider me to work with their children. I believe that mentoring is the absolute perfect way to give back to people, to show them that they can do whatever positive in life that they chose to do.
I work primarily in the Washington, DC and Chicago areas and am available anytime to schedule an appointment for tutoring, which can be in person and online. Contact me via WyzAnt to schedule an appointment with me. My rates are competitive, starting at $40 per hour for individual tutoring and you can feel confident that you will learn and be in a position to even demonstrate what you have learned to your peers (this is the old school way of learning I was accustomed to 20 yrs ago when me and your parents were in school and it works!) and confident in being called upon in class or going up to the board to prove your knowledge.
If you are struggling in your subjects and want to be academically successful and confident in school, please contact me through WyzAnt for more information or to set up a tutoring session and I will get back to you ASAP.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) as well as experience as a preschool operator/director.
I have a professional background as an Attorney, which has helped me work with people from all over the world, so I am very patient and understanding of people who are eager to learn English as it is spoken in North America.
I have materials we can use during your study time and have a flexible schedule that will allow me to help you learn while you get adjusted. We can meet at a neutral place, or I can come to you. It's your choice and I am open to whatever makes your learning experience comfortable.
Susan B. has not yet had a background check. After sending a message to Susan, you will be able to order a background check for $7.99. The check will be processed by First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
