ACT Math
ACT score is used both by high school counselors and college admission offices in your academic path. After an assessment test, I will tailor the ACT Math preparation to your needs and available time. I review with you all the relevant Mathematics chapters (Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plane Geometry, and Trigonometry), and teach you different methods to improve your score.
I would recommend planning ahead and start preparing for the test 1 full year ahead, if you envision 1.5 hour session a week.
Algebra 1
After mastering with Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 takes you further into Properties of Real Numbers. You learn to solve Linear Equations, Linear Inequalities, and Systems of Linear Equations or Inequalities. You revisit and enhance the knowledge of Powers, Exponents and Roots (Radicals), and learn how to solve Quadratic Equations. You also learn about Polynomials and how to add, subtract, multiply, and factor them. Algebra 1 also shows you how connected Geometry and Algebra are.
Algebra 2
Algebra 2 deepens the understanding of Equations and Inequalities, Power and Roots (Radicals). It introduces you to Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Sequences and Series. It also teaches you about Matrices and Determinants, and their use in solving Linear Equation Systems. Through Algebra 2 you also take the first steps into Probabilities, Statistics, and Trigonometry.
Differential Equations
I took 2 semesters' course of Differential Equations as undergraduate student, and later on applied them throughout various graduate Physics courses, including Quantum Mechanics (the most important equation of QM is a differential equation), Electrodynamics (Maxwell equations form a system of 4 differential equations), Mathematical Physics (methods of solving Differential Equations encountered in Physics) etc.
A prerequisite of Differential Equation solving is to handle well Calculus and Algebra.
Linear Algebra
In college I took a full year of Linear Algebra and passed the course test with maximum grade. Linear Algebra is very useful in other branches of Mathematics, like Geometry, but also in sciences, i.e. Physics. The Quantum Mechanics mathematics, for example is a combination of Linear Algebra and Calculus. The prerequisite for Linear Algebra is Algebra II (especially Matrices and Determinants).
Prealgebra
Pre-Algebra is the stepping stone between Elementary Math and Algebra. After you have learned all the basic operations, now is the time to categorize all the different types of numbers, the operations properties and the order in which they are computed. You also learn about exponents, roots and their properties, and the use of letters as variables.
Romanian
If you want to learn Romanian, there is no better way than having a native speaker as your tutor.
Romanian is one of the 5 Latin based languages. You know for sure about Italian, Spanish and French. Portuguese is probably the closest to Romanian in regard with pronunciation, but the words resemble Italian.
If you heard someone speaking Romanian, you might have thought that it is Russian, but that is only the accent. Romanian is the only Latin based language in Eastern Europe, being surrounded by Slavic languages North, South and Southwest, and Hungarian language (in its own category) to the West.
If you are interested in learning my language, contact me. I will be glad to help.
SAT Math
Mastering SAT Math gives you the confidence you need when taking the test. After an assessment test, I will tailor the SAT preparation to your needs and available time. I review with you all the relevant Mathematics chapters (Numbers and Operations, Algebra and Functions, Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability), and teach you different methods to improve your score.
I would recommend planning ahead and start preparing for the test 1 full year ahead, if you envision 1.5 hour session a week. A minimum of 8 sessions of 1.5 hours are needed just to briefly review all the required chapters.
