Hi-
I am here to help you have fun and make things click!! Studying and school work can get done with good results, less frustration- you just need someone like me to help you find the passion to be a successful learner. Trust me, I am not a magician or a mind reader-we need to develop the first and most important thing about tutoring-TRUST. We need to get to know each other and learn from each other so that together we can get through the toughest subject!!
I have a great academic record; I was a high school nerd, but my hard work got me into a really great college. I went to college with a typewriter (What's that???) and tons of books-no computers, no short-cuts.
I was an Italian major in college, and also studied in Rome, Italy for one year. I started learning Italian when I was 5 years old, and then studied it with passion in middle school, high school and college. I have been to Italy many times, and also speak fluent Italian. I have taught Italian both in middle school and privately to students.
After teaching for a few years, my learning never stopped and I went into Corporate Finance in NYC to work for major NYC banks. It was an uphill battle, considering I never had any finance classes in college, but I had great bosses who mentored me and tutored me to learn the most complex financial and accounting transactions!!
In 2003, after losing both of my parents to long serious illnesses, I decided to go back to college to become a Registered Nurse. It was very scary to go back to school in my mid 40's to study again, but I did all of my sciences prereqs and graduated top of my class with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
I have been a RN for the past six years, and currently work as a night supervisor for a nursing home. But I have time in the afternoons and weekends, and all day Mondays to help students feel and do better in school.
At heart, I am still an educator, and a quality education is the greatest gift I can give to someone who wants it.
