As an instructor in Academic Strategies and Critical Literacies at a private university, I am happy to assist students with critical reading, writing, and research skills; as well as how to take notes, prepare for exams, manage their time and stress levels, and apply to college.

My teaching style includes auditory, visual, and kinesthetic approaches that can be adapted to the student's learning style. I am an experienced teacher, proofreader, and editor who has a proven track record of student success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

In May of 2013, I received my MA in ministry from Hartford Seminary. This degree included significant study of both the old and new testaments.

Career Development

I have been employed at a private university in the division of Student Affairs for nine of the last 15 years. In addition to this work, I am an instructor of first year students in the subject of college study skills and research. A large part of the mission of both programs is career exploration.

College Counseling

I have been employed at a private university in the division of Student Affairs for nine of the last 15 years. In addition to this work, I am an instructor of first year students in the subject of college study skills and research.

Microsoft Outlook

I use Microsoft Outlook every day at work, using both the email and calendar tools.

Microsoft Publisher

In my role as the Director of Religious Education at the Unitarian Society of Hartford, I created kids' order of service each week using Microsoft Publisher.

Public Speaking

In the course of my career, I have served as a district trainer, director of staff development and training, academic strategies instructor, and director of education. Each of these positions requires a great deal of public speaking. Additionally, I studied preaching and presentation in the course of my Master's degree program.

Religion
