I am a certified, retired teacher and principal from the Waterbury Public School System and currently serve as a Commissioner on the Waterbury Board of Education. I have taught math, reading and language arts at both the elementary and middle school levels. I have also been a principal at the high school level, teaching at Kennedy High School, and the Waterbury Alternative Middle and High school. I have extensive experience with troubled and dysfunctional students, having taught home bound students in the Waterbury School System.
I have also been involved in numerous professional, community, and civic organizations and feel that every student should have the opportunity to learn and succeed. I believe that education is the foundation that ever student needs to become a competitive member of a modern day society. Students must learn, that to fail in education, is an end and not the beginning of a prosperous life.
I am familiar with the Connecticut State Mastery Test and have done extensive statistical research on the test results of the Waterbury School System.
I believe that the attitude of the student, the tutor and the learning environment are key ingredients for success. In order for a student to learn they must be encouraged and motivated. The tutor's job is to establish an atmosphere where learning and achievement is focused and enjoyable. I bring understanding, patience and academic success to the tutorial process. I have been responsible for educating hundreds of successful students from the inner-city as well as the suburbs. I bring over 30 years of experience in interacting with students and parents, and bringing out the best in students.
I make a difference in the lives of the kids that I teach!
