Ever since I can remember, I have enjoyed math. During my high school years I was in Honors math classes all 4 years. After having a family and working in the banking industry for 10 years, I completed college and received a B.S. Ed in Mathematics with Departmental Honors and a 3.95 overall GPA. I tutored math while I was in college, both as a volunteer at the college and as a private tutor. I then went into the insurance industry for 20 years, retiring in April, 2011. While in the business world, I had much first hand experience working with math. Since I retired, I have decided to get back to tutoring math. This past summer, I tutored two students in math. One of them was very intimidated with math, yet she earned a B+ grade in Algebra 1 under my tutelage. The other one, who just started 6th grade, was very responsive and said she had fun.
I have been actively involved in volunteering in my community and enjoy working with people. Parents of my students have been pleased with the results.
