Hello!

I am currently attending UConn (Storrs) as a Vocal Performance Major on the Pre-Med track, also minoring in French and Biology.

I have been taking French since 7th grade through college. I can speak conversational French as well as teach basic grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills. My approach to language is that exposure and practice is the key.

As a singer, I have been taking private lessons since 8th grade, totaling 7 years of experience. I have completed (and passed) college level Music Theory, Ear Training, and Piano Skills. In college I sing with both the Concert and Chamber Choir and have been involved in the Chorus of two operas.

I am a very passionate person who loves to learn. As a tutor I hope to always carry over this love of learning to my students so that they can enjoy each subject as much as I have.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ear Training

I have taken Ear Training I, II, III, and IV at the college levels. My grades were A, A, A, and B. In this class we sight-read, took melodic and harmonic dictations, used basic piano skills, and were tested on rhythm. In addition, we were tested on hearing the over-all form of musical pieces.

French

I have been taking French since the 7th grade, and continued all the way through high school. I took AP French senior year and received credit on the AP exam as well as passing the class with an A-. I have continued taking French in college, and I am pursuing a French minor.

Music Theory

I began taking Music Theory lessons in 11th grade. I am a music major in college studying in a conservatory style setting, and have taken Music Theory I, II, III, and IV. I have passed all the classes with A, A, A-, and B+.

Sight Singing

My major in school is Music and I have passed all four Sight-Singing Courses in order to graduate. I received three A's and one B over the course of four semesters of classes. Therefore, I know how sight-singing is taught and am trained myself.

Voice (Music)

I have taken private voice lessons for 7 years and my concentration is in Vocal Performance in college. Each semester of college we must pass to the next level of lessons, and I have passed each semester with an A in singing.

Once school is over, students are ready to toss away their textbooks in exchange for a swimsuit and towel. Who can blame them? The summer is a time for having fun and relaxing after a long year of hard work. However, this often means going back to school in a bit of a lazy-haze. Without five days a week of educational stimulation, it is easy to forget all the history facts, and numerical equations... read more
