I have an Associates Degree in Engineering and am pursuing a Bachelors in Mathematics with a minor in Business Finance. I am currently employed as a tutor at a local State University where I tutor fellow college students in mathematics ranging from basic algebra through advanced calculus. I am a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) nationally certified tutor.
The specific subjects I tutor include all levels of algebra, geometry, calculus 1-3, linear algebra, differential equations, and elementary statistics and probability. Having a background in engineering also makes me qualified to tutor subjects such as physics, statics, and dynamics.
I have a passion for mathematics and how it can be applied to the real world. I do not settle at just showing a student the steps to do one particular problem. Instead, I foster the student to look at the big picture and how that analytical process can be applied to solving all problems of that nature. Many students do not realize their full potential in math, or fail to see how it can be used in the real world. We live in a world of numbers. A great professor once told me, "If one can do math, one can do anything."
Past tutoring experiences include tutoring at Natchaug Elementary School in Willimantic, CT, and Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor, CT, in their respective after school programs. Many of these students were special needs, so I have experience in that field as well.
No problem is too tough to solve, as long as one has the will to solve it. I pledge to all prospective clients that I will always be patient. After all, choosing to get help is the smartest move when one is stuck on a problem.
