I have 35 years of successful teaching experience. As a teacher I was IT leader for the district, responsible for training both students and teachers on a variety of software as well as, integrating technology in lessons. I was a 3 time recipient of the Celebration of Excellence Award from the state of CT. I am also a Certified Google Teacher, trained in NYC at Google.

I understand how apprehensive some people might be when it comes to learning new technologies. This digital world is ever changing. Besides my computer skills, one of my strengths is patience! I will never make you feel stupid or incapable of learning. My personal tutoring experience includes home-schooled children all the way to Senior Citizens! You are never too old to learn something new!

MUSIC LESSONS: My life as a musician has encompassed personal performing as well as public school teaching. I started playing piano at age 8. I was spotlighted on a local television show, accompanied groups at school and community musicals. I majored in music at Western CT State University and received both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Music Education. 28 of my 35 years in teaching included music - band chorus and general music.

I have continued my passion for music as organist - music director for a local church. I have also combined my two passions in teaching various computer programs for music educators!

I continued my music studies at Western CT State University where I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education.

I taught music in the Trumbull Public Schools as choir, general music and band director for Madison Middle School. As general music teacher I won the state's "Celebration of Excellence" award for creative and innovative teaching.

Piano

I have studied piano since I was 8 years old, performing on local television, church and being the pianist for various musicals.

I am an active web designer. I have been designing websites since 1998. In addition, I have taught website design since 2003, working with both students and adults.

I have a CAS degree in Computer Education from Fairfield University. I was IT leader for the Trumbull Public Schools for 14 years. Adobe Photoshop

I have used and taught Photoshop for more than 20 years. As a graphics editor for the State's "Celebration of Excellence" booklet, I used photoshop to correct many of the photos posted in the book. As yearbook advisor, I taught students to use Photoshop to create effects and graphics for the award winning Trumbull HS Yearbook.

Adobe InDesign

I have used InDesign since it was PageMaker. I have used InDesign to create a variety of publications - yearbooks, conference books, church bulletins and other publications that were ultimately sent to a printer.

In addition, I have taught others how to use InDesign and prepare documents for publication.

Desktop Publishing

I have been active in Desktop Publishing producing documents for major organizations. For several years, I was the creator for the "Celebration of Excellence" book for the State Dept of Education in Connecticut (this program is no longer active). Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is the industry standard for creating WYSIWYG websites. I have created many websites using Dreamweaver. The latest version uses AJAX, CSS, Spry Widgets and more. Websites need to keep current with the WW3 standards and compliances. I am able to create and edit in both the design and code views, adding Javascripts, forms and more. I have been using Dreamweaver since its inception, switching from GoLive.

Macintosh

I have been working on Mac computers since they first came out. I have the added advantage of having taught on both the Mac & PC, so I understand the similarities and differences.

Microsoft Access

I have taught and used databases for over 15 years. Access is a relational database, linking tables enabling the user to create useful queries. I have used Access and other database programs - MS Works, FileMaker and others to maintain records and inventory.

I am current with the latest versions of Microsoft 2010 version of Access,and can assist you in setting up tables, formatting data and creating queries.

Microsoft Outlook

As part of my IT leader duties in the public schools, I was responsible for running workshops for teachers on how to use Outlook. Managing contacts, organizing emails, creating poles, recovering deleted items, sharing calendars and more.

Microsoft Windows

I have taught Information Processing on windows based computers for over 14 years. I started with Windows 95 and have progressed through the updates to Windows 7. I taught students about windows, minimize, maximize, screen shots, creating folders, saving documents, document extensions and much more.

Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is part of the Office suite that many people use to publish newsletters, brochures and flyers.

I have been teaching Publisher to youth and adults for over 12 years. I can teach students how to use Publisher for school projects, create flyers, brochures, banners and much more!
