I love to teach! I come from a family of educators and joined the ranks myself. For twenty years I taught public high school - U.S. History, Sociology, Government, and Consumer Economics. I also taught basic Math. I love the students. I left because the increase in bureaucracy and paperwork left less and less time to teach. I've also tutored for many years and I've worked with kids of all ages in different capacities - camp counselor, program director, program presenter, summer school, etc.
I believe strongly that teaching should be based on positive motivation and reinforcement. Praise is an invaluable commodity and costs nothing. I teach through explanation and encouragement; harshness and punishment prevent learning. A good sense of humor accompanies me everywhere.
I recently took the Reading and Writing portions of the SAT and earned a score of 1500 (out of 1600). I'm bright and interested and an excellent communicator. I'm very good at individuaizing instruction to each student. I ran a small business for 10 years and I'm organized, detail-oriented, experienced in all facets of business, and a good leader. I'm now self-employed. Teaching is a passion for me. I look forward to helping each student excel.
