I love to learn and thoroughly enjoy learning right along with my students. I think that learning and studying should be fun and interesting, not just memorizing or completing worksheets. I think that people can and should learn from various different media including the computer, movies, books, websites, blogs...the possibilities are endless.

Study Skills

Having just completed my Master's Degree, I've found that I've learned many ways to study effectively. When working with a new student I first find out what type of learner they are, and then I adjust my lessons towards teaching them how to best study given the type of learner they are.

Sewing

I have been sewing since I was 6 years old and am now an accomplished dressmaker, tailor, quilter, teacher, and craft enthusiast. I love teaching people how to sew and to see their pride when they finish a project.

ADD/ADHD

I have two sons with ADD/ADHD and I have worked closely with them readapting their assignments, teaching them time management, helping them to see that their ADD/AH means their minds are lightening fast, and they must learn how to slow them down.

I have also taken special education courses as part of my work towards my Master's degree.

Praxis

I have recently taken the Praxis in order to be certified to teach secondary social studies in CT. I took the Praxis I and II in 026 social studies. Historically I have been a very weak test taker. For this reason I dissected the test, isolating where my weaknesses fell and how best to compensate for them. I also practiced the test frequently. I know how hard this test can be and I'm fully qualified to make sure that you prepare yourself to pass it the first time around!

Social Studies

I hold a Bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Art History. Recently I completed my Masters in Teaching. To complete the requirements for the Master's program I had to take several socials studies content courses. I have studied political, cultural, economic and social geography, macroeconomics, psychology, world geography, middle eastern history. I am comfortable teaching or tutoring any of these subjects.

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
