My name is Joe and I am an experienced guitarist and guitar educator.I have been playing the guitar for 20 years and teaching and playing professionally for the past 11 years. I attended Berklee College of music from the fall of 1994 to the spring of 1996 and then transferred to Western Connecticut State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Major in Jazz performance. I have been gigging in Connecticut since the year 2000 with various jazz combos and rock bands, one of which won The Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam award for Best Fusion Band two years in a row. I am well versed in and comfortable teaching most styles of guitar including rock, blues, jazz, funk, metal, pop, fingerstyle, folk and country. I have a strong background in improvisation, music theory and ear training. I prefer to tailor all my lessons to the individual needs of each student rather than impose a set curriculum. However, with that being said, there is a basic set of skills that is needed to play any style competently and this is where I begin with each student. Beyond that, I believe that since each students goals are unique that their instruction should also be.
