I graduated UConn in May of 2011 with a BS in math. While at UConn, I tutored math an average of 8 hours per week at the tutoring center, and I was voted Most Valuable Tutor in fall of 2010. I am good at breaking things down into manageable pieces and finding new ways to explain topics that students are struggling with. I am also good at figuring out exactly what is troubling my students so that we can focus on the part of the topic that is causing trouble without wasting time on things that you understand.
I tend to ask questions that cause you to think about the material rather than simply explaining everything because I find that when students learn this way, they feel more comfortable with the material and remember it better. I am extremely patient and love tutoring.
I am currently working full time as a teacher, so in general I am only able to tutor on weekends and some weekday evenings.
