Thank you for looking at my profile!

I hold a B.A. with High Honors in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory from Wesleyan University with extensive coursework in francophone and English literature, philosophy, cultural anthropology, and the history and philosophy of science. At Wesleyan, I was appointed to a fellowship at the Center for the Humanities, where I wrote a thesis on the intersections of mathematics, poetry, and philosophy in twentieth century French thought. In Spring 2013, I functioned as a teaching assistant in the History department and received overwhelmingly positive evaluations for my pedagogy.

As a visiting scholar in the master's program in the history, philosophy, and sociology of the sciences at l'Université Paris VII and ENS Ulm (Sept.-Dec. 2013), I was able to work towards perfecting my spoken and written French. I also undertook graduate coursework in mathematics, for which I received the highest grade in the program.

With my educational experience in mind, I am comfortable tutoring students of all levels—including undergraduates—in the French language, in English grammar and composition, in French and English literature, in history, in philosophy, and in mathematics. I would be pleased to offer references for any of these disciplines or a more explicit CV.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Logic

I have completed masters coursework in the Logic, Philosophy, History, and Sociology of the Sciences at Paris-VII and ENS Ulm, which required (of course) significant work in formal logic. I also spent two semesters in the history of modern logic with Dr. Sanford Shieh at Wesleyan University. My work in mathematics, especially the theory of categories, has also prepared me to tutor high-level students in logic.

Religion

I have undertaken considerable coursework in religion under Dr. Mary-Jane Rubenstein at Wesleyan University. My knowledge extends to the philosophy of religion and modern theology (especially Kierkegaard, but also stretching from Hume to Derrida).

Awesome first day!!! — Nick was great. My daughter Lilly felt very comfortable with him. she learned a ton and now feels much more prepared for tomorrow's test! They did a surprise double session. She was learning... she needed the help, and they just kept going. We are off to a great start and we will definitely be calling on Nick again soon! ...
