As an English/Humanities/Languages teacher, I have taught for several decades on four continents in all kinds of schools (boarding, day and both) of many differing religions (Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim) and in several countries, Iran, Africa, Scotland and Bahrain.
I have always demanded a willingness on the part of a student to try, rather than a predefined standard to be met. I have served as an in-house tutor to a Royal Family, am in the gradual process of writing my own English Grammar Book, and teach a course of my own invention called "Navigating Western Culture."
I have regularly taught from seventh to twelfth grade--and though I have taught some University, it was never my cup of tea! I was born and raised in Scotland, came to America in 1971 and have taught mostly in Connecticut and New York, except for an excruciatingly hot three-year spell in Las Vegas!
I am a passionate teacher with excellent references to hand; I have been told by both administrators and colleagues in the field that I have been very successful in many so-called 'difficult' cases.
Lastly, I can safely say, without contradiction, there simply is no other profession in life for me other than teaching, nor has there ever been!
