I am a seasoned scientist who has changed careers mid life in order to improve the science education of children.
A current Human Biology Adjunct Professor at Eastern, I have an open door policy for my students who need extra help with class or just need someone to talk to.
My philosophy about teaching is simple. Students learn more by actively doing and interacting with the material than listening to someone drone on. Allowing the student to figure out problems themselves by using guiding questions and redirection allows them to develop problem solving skills. Thus, students are not only learning how to tackle the problems at hand, but also how to approach different types of problems they will face in the future.
Education is about learning, not teaching. My goal is to aid your child to develop strong study skills, critical thinking skills and learn how they learn best. These skills will make your child confident, not only to become a stronger student, but also to recognize when they need help and the questions to ask.
My legacy as a strong teacher is my own children's success in education and life. All have been or currently are honors students with exceptional resumes in academia and in the school/neighborhood communities.
