I am an enthusiastic individual who is eager to help students develop in order to be prepared to enter the ever changing world. I employ strategies that allow students to become successful both in and out of a classroom setting. I use a system of positive reinforcement to encourage children to achieve the goals that are set for them.
The strategies taught to my students during sessions are aligned with the strategies that are taught to them in school. This system ensures continuity between how the student performs in school as well as during tutoring sessions. My students are encouraged to take academic risks while still being held to the standards of their school's curriculum. I strive to continually improve the quality of my instruction through self reflection, as well as collaboration with my peers if need be.
I have seven years of elementary school experience. These experiences range from being a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, student teacher, and long-term substitute.
I received a master's degree in elementary education from the University of New Haven in 2011. I use the methods and strategies that I learned at UNH in my tutoring sessions to ensure that my students receive the highest level of instruction both in and out of their classroom.
I look forward to any opportunities to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally through my tutoring sessions.
