Hi, and thanks for considering me for your tutoring and coaching needs. My background includes time as a lawyer, film maker, webmaster, database designer, Mac system administrator, Business & Legal Affairs administrator, musician, lacrosse coach, researcher, author, editor, scuba instructor... and dad. Basically, I've done a lot of different things, because I love to keep learning and gaining new experiences.
It's this enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge that allows me to relate to and motivate my students and clients, and turns learning (new and/or remedial) into a pleasant, rewarding and exciting experience.
I graduated from Harvard College, and obtained my Law Degree J.D., cum laude from Suffolk University Law School where I was also on the Moot Court Board. I am a member of American Mensa.
I look forward to working with you!
I've worked extensively with InDesign and MS-Word and have been a volunteer newsletter publisher for a couple of civic and social organizations.
I've been working with computers since 1973, on the Internet, (or its predecessor), since 1982. I've been using Macintosh since 1988, iPods since 2001, iPhone since 2009 and iPad since 2011. I'm also experienced with Windows. Computers are tools to make our work easier, our learning quicker, and our play better. I'm excited to teach, coach or guide you with your general computer issues!
High School All-American goaltender. Goalie instruction. I coached boys and girls U-11 through U-15 teams in general field play and skills. I am active in adult league as a goaltender.
I have been enthusiastically using and supporting Apple computer products since 1982 and Macintosh computers and compatible peripherals since 1988.
I have worked as a Macintosh System Administrator for 8-40 user networks, including Mac OS Servers. I have installed ethernet and wireless networks for many homes and businesses, designed relational databases using 4D and FileMaker, and have been an independent Mac and iPhone consultant for over 20 years.
I am experienced in teaching and training people on Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Photoshop, iWork Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iTunes, iPhoto, and the Macintosh OS: Systems 9 - Lion OS X.
Whether you need help learning the intricacies of a word processing application for school or work, managing playlists, music collections or digital photos, or general Macintosh usage, I can help.
I am especially good with Windows to Mac transitions.
Powerpoint is a useful tool for creating presentations to be shown to a group, or for generating powerful handouts to support a talk or lecture.
Powerpoint is merely a tool. Just as a hammer and nails are used by a master carpenter to build a structure, simply knowing how to hammer nails does not mean a good structure will be built. There needs to be a good plan, properly followed. For your presentation, that's the content and organization of your thoughts.
I have written and delivered lectures at a university, talks at social clubs and business meetings, and pitches as parts of successful promotional or sales efforts. In each instance I have created an appropriate Powerpoint presentation to support it.
If you simply need help learning how to use the program, I can help. But I'm also here to help you shape a presentation that is informative, entertaining, coherent and compelling.
Microsoft Word is the standard word processing application for business and academia. Whether you are simply trying to understand the basic concept of word processing in general, or need advanced help in mastering all of its intricacies, I would be delighted to work with you.
My experience in assisting people with Word ranges from introductory classes and exercises through editing and publishing manuscripts and doctoral dissertations.
Whether you are struggling with formatting a personal letter, creating form letters and using mail merge, or need to use footnotes, end notes, and tables of contents, I am ready and eager to help!
Professional writer and experienced editor.
