I am an adult with a great deal of experience working with school aged children in Connecticut. I am currently certified to teach Biology and Comprehensive Special Education in Connecticut. In order to obtain my certification in Comprehensive Special Education in the State of Connecticut, I had to successfully complete two student teaching placements in two different settings under the supervision of a university supervising professor and an experienced Certified Special Education Teacher that had worked in the field for many years. I was evaluated on my performance in the classroom and also how well I adhered to the standards that are required by the State of Connecticut Department of Education. As a part of my education, I also completed classes in behavior management. I have a Certificate of Advanced Study which is 48 credits beyond the Master's Degree from Fairfield University in Comprehensive Special Education and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education with certification in Biology from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
I have worked in the public school systems in Connecticut for over fifteen years, and I believe that under the right circumstances if a student is motivated to learn and willing to do the work that they will be successful. I am qualified to work with a diverse population and formulate a plan to help the student achieve their desired goals. Teaching strategies will vary based on the subject that is being taught using the modalities that have been successful for the student in other educational environments. Study skills will be taught as part of the session when assistance in this area is required. Since each student has their own unique learning styles and needs, individual lesson plans and evaluations will be created by the tutor (me). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to discuss your child's educational needs and goals. I enjoy teaching and working with children and I look forward to meeting you in the future.
