If you or your child is having difficulty with reading, writing, public speaking, science, or Spanish coursework then do not hesitate to contact me. Although I'm a recent Psychology graduate, I graduated summa cum laude and have garnered a lot of experience in various areas. I also graduated with a Gender Studies and Spanish Language and Culture minor; I studied abroad in Argentina for a summer. I was a tutor for two college level writing courses and an upper-level psychology course that required me to give daily feedback to students on their work. In addition, I took both AP European History and U.S. History in high school and passed both AP tests, so I can be of help regarding history as well. My science expertise lends itself toward anatomy and physiology because it is the science subject I tended to tutor most students in.

I look forward to working on your strengths and weaknesses so that altogether you become a more confident student. Often children worry about a big essay or assignment coming up and I assure you that after spending some time with me going over basics and strategies to enhance your studies, you will feel much more comfortable. This may not be your favorite subject, but it will not be as dreaded as before. With a bit of perseverance and dedication, you will feel comfortable with the material and see your test scores improve dramatically!

I pride myself on an extensive vocabulary and so I would engage those of you who need help with reading to underline words they do not understand so that we can add them to an archive of words they can study on their own time so that they may one day implement them in their writing. My specific approach is to have you tell me what exactly is worrying or frustrating you with the material so that I may better suit your needs. For example, if you are having trouble remembering all of the different monarchs of England, I will help you remember a silly fact about each of them to help you better encode the information. When it comes to anatomy and physiology, I encourage the student to use several tools to facilitate the memorization of information.

As for students seeking help with Spanish, I would like to help your child become more confident speaking, writing, and reading. That is the key to making their time in the classroom--and real-world if the case--more smooth.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have regarding my work experience or tutoring strategies.

Thank you!

American History

I took APUSH and AP Euro courses in high school and passed them both. I have tutored more students in APUSH than AP Euro, but love tutoring them equally. My skills are grounded in writing and reading so my expertise is helping organize and execute DBQs and FRQs.

I took an anatomy & physiology course while in college and received an "A." My class specifically put more focus on the muscles of the body, but gave us a well-rounded overview of their relationship to bones as well as how body systems operate.

I have served as a tutor for two college-level writing courses and a scientific writing tutor for an upper-level psychology course. I take special consideration for students' problem-areas and seek to strengthen them in as little time as possible.

Public Speaking

I was personally selected to present my senior thesis in front of over 100 individuals and often gave up some of my time to help other college students overcome their fears of public speaking. I have the student first present a topic they are familiar with to me so they can get a feel of how to best present a subject. Afterwards I allow them to move onto the assignment they have for a course so that they can become comfortable speaking and organizing their thoughts about a subject they do not feel particularly at ease with.

I recently graduated summa cum laude from Purchase College with a major in Psychology and two minors in Gender Studies and Spanish Language & Culture. Reading skills were imperative to the kind of assignments I had to complete. They also helped me provide feedback to my students' essays over the course of my time spent as a teacher's assistant and tutor.

Besides minoring in Spanish, I studied abroad in Argentina for a month to hone my speaking abilities. I took AP Spanish in high school and tutored some of my classmates at the time. I like to focus on making sure the student has equal time reading and writing as they do speaking in my lessons.

Despite graduating with a degree in Psychology, my writing skills extend beyond scientific writing. I was a teacher's assistant for a college writing course and a creative writing course. I also was a tutor for an experimental psychology course. In each of these positions I had daily contact and review with tons of students who sought to improve their work.
